Dana Branch really sizzled at the plate in today's 13-12 win over Mud Hens. The Charlotte center fielder blistered Toledo for 6 hits in 7 at-bats.
"Branch was too tough to get out today," the Mud Hens skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
D. Branch singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, hit an RBI double in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off B. Badenhop in the 12th.
So far this season Branch has hit .285 with 6 home runs, 56 RBIs and and scored 52 times.

When it came to hitting the baseball, David Espinosa had few peers in the International League this past week.
The talented left fielder for Toledo tagged opposing pitchers for a .524 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 11 hits in 21 at-bats, 6 homers, 11 runs scored and 13 RBIs.
Thus far in 2011 Espinosa has hit .276 with 12 home runs, 45 RBIs and scored 59 runs.

 | Monday, July 18th, 2011: Anderson Goes 5-7 Against Toledo
Josh Anderson was on fire today and sparked his club to a 8-5 victory over the Mud Hens. The Scranton Wilkes-Barre center fielder was a tough out and went 5 for 7 against Toledo in a fine hitting display.
"I got my pitches and I connected. They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody...and some days they fall in."
J. Anderson singled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, flied out in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 9th, hit an RBI single in the 11th and hit a three-run home run off S. Komine in the 13th.
Looking at his stats this year, Anderson has compiled a .305 batting average, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 29 runs. He has played in 79 games and scored 49 runs.
