| Breaking News | | Sunday, June 19th, 2011: Negron Cracks 5 Hits On top of the Pawtucket hit parade today was Kris Negron. He went to the plate 6 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Red Sox to a 9-8 victory over the Columbus Clippers. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-6 performance.
The sweet swinging shortstop told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
The skipper of the Clippers wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
K. Negron doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off D. Jones in the 10th.
Year-to-date in 56 games Negron has compiled a .292 batting average with 61 hits and 2 home runs. He has also scored 26 times and knocked in 23 runs. | | Monday, June 13th, 2011: IL Names Clippers Center Fielder Winner It was announced today that Columbus center fielder Francisco Plasencia snagged the International League Player of the Week Award for his outstanding play last week.
He posted a .542 batting average as he collected 13 hits, no home runs and 6 RBIs.
In 2011 Plasencia is batting .291 with 69 hits, 3 home runs, 37 RBIs, 13 walks, .332 OBP and has scored 31 runs. He has played in 59 games. | | Sunday, June 5th, 2011: Litsch Fires Shutout in Columbus Victory Jesse Litsch was downright nasty in pitching a 12-0 shutout against Buffalo. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the Bisons were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 3-hit shutout the Clippers hurler chalked up 4 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."
Season-to-date Litsch has rung up 4 wins and 5 losses in 11 appearances. He has an ERA of 3.73 and has fanned 50 batters in 72.1 innings. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 43-33, .566 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 20-13, .606 PCT | | Record on the road | 23-20, .535 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-5, .286 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 11-14, .440 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 16-6, .727 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 27-27, .500 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in April | 13-11, .542 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 16-7, .696 PCT |
