Friday, October 28th, 2011: González Selected NL Rookie of the Year
A spectacular season in the San Diego Padres bullpen has earned Víctor González the Rookie of the Year Award in the National League.

In 56 relief appearances and 55 innings, González struck out 49, walked 10 and chalked up a 1.96 ERA with 40 saves. He had a 5-5 record.

Allegedly, Andruw Jones has asked to be traded from San Diego. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great.

Saturday, October 1st, 2011: NL Rookie Hittin' on All Cylinders in September
Víctor López moved to the head of the class today as the 26-year-old first baseman for San Diego bagged the National League Rookie of the Month trophy for September.

Over that stretch López batted .327 with 37 hits in 113 at-bats, collecting 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

López is hitting .290 in 2011 with 6 home runs, 36 RBIs and 32 runs scored. He has 80 hits in 276 at-bats and played in 126 games.
