Monday, June 20th, 2011: Big Bat Bags NL Best Player Award
Last week Albert Pujols was the toast of Houston and the talk of the National League -- this week he's the NL Player of the Week.

The standout first baseman sewed up the award with his .407 average (11-27), 6 home runs, 11 RBIs and 9 runs.

In the 2011 season Pujols has hit .337 with 24 home runs, 68 RBIs and scored 65 runs.
Monday, June 13th, 2011: Big Day for Pence! Swats 5 Hits!
Hunter Pence told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."

Well, that's just what Pence of the Houston Astros did against the Baltimore Orioles. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Orioles, who suffered a 10-4 defeat.

"Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us."

H. Pence singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off C. Bradford in the 9th.

Pence is swinging at a .340 pace on the year with 10 home runs, 50 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He has played in 59 games.
