| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, November 30th, 2011: Orioles, Phillies Make Trade 31-year old starting pitcher Josh Beckett will now be playing for the Philadelphia Phillies and 36-year old left fielder Carlos Lee, 22-year old minor league starting pitcher Freddie Ivey and $5,000,000 in cash will be suiting up for the Baltimore Orioles. The trade was announced today at a press conference by club officials.
In his whole career, the 31-year-old Beckett has won 112 and lost 116, piling up 1624 strikeouts and 612 walks in 1846.2 innings with a 4.23 ERA. Opponents have hit .254 against him.
Lee has batted .293 for his career with 2145 hits, 434 doubles, 22 triples and 376 home runs and 1304 RBIs. |  | Wednesday, November 30th, 2011: Cortéz and Upton Swapped The Baltimore Orioles swapped 23-year old starting pitcher Rubén Cortéz and 22-year old minor league second baseman Héctor Rodríguez for 24-year old second baseman Justin Upton of the Marlins after what Florida officials would only characterize as "difficult" negotiations.
Lifetime Upton is batting .286 with 718 hits, 77 home runs, 401 runs scored and 313 RBIs. |  | Tuesday, October 4th, 2011: Wood Bashes 3 HR for Baltimore! Detroit won't soon forget the display of raw power put on today by Brandon Wood of the Baltimore Orioles. He victimized the Tigers by pounding three pitches out of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The homers sparked his club to a 9-8 win and got him a spot in the league record book.
"I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," Wood told reporters. "Today I was in a groove...tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0 for 3."
In addition to the homers, he collected 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
