Thursday, October 1st, 2009: 5-Hits Blitz by Cabrera
"It was like I was hitting little league pitching again," said Miguel Cabrera after his 5-hit performanace against the Nationals. "No offense meant to Washington, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Pro Player Stadium! I'm just not too happy that we lost 9-5"

The Florida third baseman had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats.

His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Miguel worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."

"That's what I'm trying to do," Cabrera said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it. It sure did work today."

M. Cabrera singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

Cabrera has collected 153 hits for the Marlins this year, 29 of them home runs. He has also netted 87 RBIs and scored 105 runs while batting .323.
